Frequently Asked Questions

What is a pourer?
In case you have not heard of pourers before, they work very simply. You just push them into the neck of the bottle; tip the bottle up, and the liquid flows out. We make three types of pourers, Gourmet Pour measured pours, free pours and Belle La Vie Wine Aerator™.

Why do you offer three types of pourers?
Free flowing pourers have many uses. The most common use is in bars and restaurants selling alcoholic mixed drinks. The free flowing pourer was the gold standard for many years. These days the free flowing pourer is used in kitchens to dispense cooking oil, vinegar, wine, herbal oils, and flavorings, and dish soap. They’re used in the bathroom for herbal bath oils and bubble bath.

Many years ago, a two-ball measuring pourer came onto the market. Although more accurate than counting during the pour, some bar owners were still searching for a better pourer. In 1996, the Gourmet Pour was developed, including the patented 3-ball system enabling perfectly consistent drinks every time, virtually eliminating dripping and spillage at the end of the pour.

Using the traditional-style free pour or a measured pourer is now a matter of preference. However, the 3-ball Gourmet Pour typically saves up to 4 drinks per bottle poured. This increases profits to the bar owner while making sure the bar patron gets a consistent drink tasting the same every time.

No more, “Wow, that one is strong!” coming from your customers. Or even worse “The last one was a lot stronger than this one, what gives?”

Our newest pourer is an aerating pourer designed specifically for wine drinkers. The Aeration Pour spout introduces exactly the correct amount of air into the wine as it’s being poured, enhancing the flavor of the wine while keeping the wine still in the bottle fresh, in case you do not finish the whole bottle in one sitting.

What’s the difference between our Gourmet Pour and our Free Pour?
The free pourer works just like all the other free pourers you have used in the past. They pour freely until you tip the bottle upright. The patented 3-ball Gourmet Pour measures the exact amount they are designed to pour. You pick the pour size best for your needs and circumstances.

What pour sizes do you offer?
We offer lots different pour sizes.

  • Eleven pour sizes for the US market starting at ¼ ounce up to 3 ounces.
  • Ten metric pour sizes from 5mL to 50mL.
  • One Imperial ounce size as well, for the special needs of any country, like Canada or Britain, using the Imperial measuring system.
  • Available sizes that correspond to common cooking measurements
    • 1 teaspoon = 5ml
    • 1 tablespoon = ½ ounce = 15ml
    • 2 tablespoons = 1 ounce = 30ml
    • 3 tablespoons = 1 ½ ounce = 45ml
    • 4 tablespoons = 2 ounces

What makes the our Gourmet Pour better than other measured pourers?
These patented 3-ball pourers measure exact amounts each pour ensuring the drinks in your establishment maintain consistent taste each time and every time. Even while new staff members are still training you still provide great tasting drinks to your customers, because the measured pourer takes the guesswork out of making your drinks taste exactly the same each and every time.

Why would I care about accuracy, can not my bartender just count like they have always done?
Certainly you can continue free pouring to a count. However, by over-pouring by as little as 1/8th ounce per drink, you could be selling up to 4 drinks less per bottle depending on how much your staff over-pours while making drinks. This likely varies between staff members.
Even more important these days due to strict drinking and driving laws, you probably want to protect your business and your staff by pouring consistent drinks every time. Your ability to make sure each customer receives a consistent drink helps protect you from costly litigation while at the same time making sure each drink tastes just like it should.

What’s the minimum order?
Currently our minimum order is 50 pourers. You can mix colors and pour sizes to get to the minimum.

What kinds of colors are available?
We currently offer 8 vibrant colors. Lemon, Grape, Coconut, Ice Cube, Cherry, Lime, Tangerine, and Blueberry. If you want another color give us a call. We will be glad to talk about it. We have the ability to supply custom orders.

Do I have to get all the same colors?
You can mix colors in your order with no penalty.

Do you do retail sales or wholesale only?
At this time we only sell wholesale lots. We do not sell directly to the public in small quantities. If you are looking for a small quantity for personal use, please contact one of the retailers on our list.

Can I save money in my establishment by using your 3-ball Gourmet Pour?
Because by over-pouring as little as 1/8th ounce per drink, you could be selling up to 4 drinks less per bottle depending on whether or not your staff over-pours while making drinks. This likely varies between staff members. Even if your staff only slightly over-pours now, you could easily see an increase in profits by changing over to the Gourmet Pour.

What other uses do these have other than liquor?
Indeed, you can use these pourers in your kitchen or bathroom for a multitude of uses. We use some of the smaller measured pourers for liquids like vanilla and other expensive flavorings while baking at home. After testing a number of measuring spoon and cup sets, we found they vary widely in size. You can get consistent and correct tasting baked goods every time by using a measured pourer in your kitchen. By putting a free pour with a flip-top flap seal on your cooking oils you do not have to take the time to unscrew the lid each time and you still never need to worry about bugs or dust getting into the bottle.

Can I use these with bubble bath or other soaps?
We have customers that use a free pour on a decorative bottle on the kitchen counter for dish soap. It’s easy to make luxurious scented and herbal soaps for use in your bathroom too. By using a pourer with a collar and a flip-cap seal you never have to worry about evaporation, attracting bugs, while keeping out dust too.

Can I use these with oil in the kitchen?
Yes, you can use them with all your cooking oils. Only FDA approved food grade virgin plastic are used for these pours. Because we do not use any adhesives or glue during assembly, you do not have to worry about contaminating the food you make and eat.

What if I need an extra ½ ounce shot?
You simply tip the bottle again, counting and stopping any time during your pour before the full pour is reached with all our Gourmet Pour. The next pour still measures the exact amount it’s calibrated to deliver.

Why do other manufacturers claim they make the only American-Made pourers?
We cannot speak for other companies. These patented 3-ball measuring pourers are manufactured in Minnesota, since 1996.

What type of materials do you use to make your pourers?
And all our raw materials and ingredients used to make all our products come from American sources. You can rest easy knowing there are not any foreign ingredients or components with contamination issues like you may have heard came out of China recently. Not only that, all the raw materials are tested to ensure the highest purity. These products always meet FDA rules and guidelines for food-grade products. Our products do not contain polycarbonates, which are known to leach into food and alcohol.

How fast do you fill your orders?
Standard orders: 4 days
Custom orders: 7 days

Do you do custom logo design and printing?
Yes. Please call us at for more details.

What’s the character limit on the printing?
This depends logo size, the font size and type. On the collar it would have to fit in a space 1 ¼ inches wide and 7/8 inches high. We can print on both sides of the collar though. On the spout the space is ½ inch wide by 1 inch high.
